Re: Fleeting/Random/Thoughts

I can't complain. The guy who lives across from had another loud get together on Monday night till almost midnight which kept me up on Monday night. He didn't seem to be around last night so I had a good night's sleep in comparison.

Re: Fleeting/Random/Thoughts

Just noticed that I've paid off the last of my HECS debt. Wooo  Always good when that happens. It was nice when I realised that it was gone when i got a sizeable tax return, and even better when I stopped repayments coming out of my salary. I remember when I paid off my HECS debt. The workpla...

Re: Doctor Who

I'm conflicted still. I think these episodes are well done but the social commentary feels shoved in my face. We've had feminism, racism, domestic violence, and casualties of war. The latter two were a bit more subtle in that second episode but still noticeable. These topics were part of Doctor Who ...

What Disco hasn't mentioned is that she has her own property management business and there's a relative level of certainty that her child is often "sick" when she has other engagements for her own business.
That clears things up easily.

Re: Fleeting/Random/Thoughts

Ah, so low on carers leave. What about working from home? Isn't something we do, it's generally seen as a way of paying someone 100% of their salary but probably only getting 40% of the work done because they're supposedly caring for their child. Although, we don't do it in general, at all, ever. I...

Re: Fleeting/Random/Thoughts

And this is why everyone needs to have access to more than a few days of carers leave and flex time. She does, or she should - except she generally takes 1 day of carers leave each fortnight without fail, always with a medical certificate. Ah, so low on carers leave. What about working from home?

Agree Cherry and Storm. It's why I went back to being a public servant. The culture around not working when sick is a lot better than my experience with the private sector.

Re: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3

Marvel Studios still have yet to pick someone to take over for James Gunn on a third “Guardians of the Galaxy” film, but a Twitter source named DanielRPK, known for bits of Marvel news reporting, indicates Marvel’s Kevin Feige and company eyeing a female filmmaker to direct. It’s thought that Gunn’...

Re: Diablo III

If the Diablo-related news at BlizzCon is the rumoured Netflix series, I hope it looks really good and isn't a million months away. Sad it sounds like we'll only get one announcement though. :( Thinking things through, if the Netflix series is the only announcement for Diablo then I think it's goin...

Re: Fleeting/Random/Thoughts

For once I'm a bit ahead... I did the cooking for my main meals for this week last night. Just had to boil up some broccoli this morning. Also cooked my porridge for the next few days this arvo as well. Did a tonne of mopping and cleaned the two bathrooms at my place... the one downstairs I use is a...

Re: Fleeting/Random/Thoughts

Make sure to leave a review if they have a site /contracting agency for such things. Yeah, they do. I posted a job request on OneFlare and got two replies. I went with this one partially because they were the cheaper price but also because they had a few 5 star ratings still. I'll probably leave it...

Re: Fleeting/Random/Thoughts

Spending today doing copious amounts of cleaning no thanks to the cleaner not turning up yesterday or answering her phone or even giving me a call back. Mum's still in remission so I'm hesitant to have her room and bathroom left uncleaned even if it hasn't been used in the past year. Hoping I still ...
