It's a bit sad for me that the most exciting thing to come out of today's Blizzcon is the new Overwatch character Ashe.
Were you anticipating/expecting something?

Or just expected more?

Re: Playstation Classic

I'm not surprised by the lack of notable games, Nintendo own all or most of the rights to content in their games so it is a lot easier for Nintendo to re-release games and emulation based consoles. I use a combination of Mednafen and RetroArch + Mednafen/Beetle PSX HW cores for playing PS1 games. I ...

I don't have a next gen console so can't play this. And I also have the first one to finish first on PS3.
+1.

Would be nice if Rockstar release a remaster of RDR and RDR2 on PC in future. I have RDR on Xbox 360 but I never played it.

Re: Fortnite

I played Fornite for a few weeks with some mates shortly before the Battle Royale mode was added. It was fun for a time but the poor card drop rates made me feel it was a tedious and unrewarding grind so once the gameplay became stale there was nothing to keep me playing. That mode is now called Sav...

Re: Photography Gear

I'll be spoiled for choice when it comes to cameras and will have absolutely no reason to not go out shooting. Nice. I'd been thinking about getting a camera but I'd probably never have it on me when I saw something I wanted to take a good picture of so I'll probably just end up spending more on a ...

Re: Destiny 2

It's adding bows so Bungie can shutup and take my money. :D Bit strange they're doing this massive change so soon after Warmind though. Word is that the expansion didn't bring back anywhere near as many players as Bungie had hoped. I know friends who played Destiny 1 the entire time it was relevant...

Got the bare necessities installed (i.e. Office, Visio, Project, all my browsers, VLC, Winamp, battle.net and Steam). Need to make a list of everything else I'm missing since I didn't get to do that before the PC stopped booting. Downloading, installing and configuring software just the way I want ...

It was the SSD!
That's a least worst outcome assuming you didn't loose any data.

If you game I'd suggest an SSD over 500GB, games are getting large.

Re: Advice on what is salvagable

Yeah - learnt my lesson there - full sized ATX next time :P The ASRock Z77 Extreme4 was advertised as ATX but is actually cut down and misses the front-most lugs so you have to be careful to support the board and not apply too much force when inserting and removing the 24 pin motherboard power conn...

Re: Advice on what is salvagable

Suppose we should start taking friendly bets.... Problem is with the PSU or mobo? 1. PSU 2. Voltage regulation on the motherboard maybe faulty/dead caps. Only issue Ive had was that one of the RAM slots died about 7/8 months ago - which brought the other annoying thing in - slot placement means I h...

Re: The NBN thread

Didn't they account for those billions when deciding on how good their NBN plan would be over Labors plan??? The plan was never to provide equivalent service over time as rolling out FTTN and filling in HFC areas costs tens of billions and then almost everything done has to be ripped up and replace...

Re: Advice on what is salvagable

Apparently, alot of the newer CPU's on the market of late are not supported natively by the motherboards you can buy, unless you flash the BIOS. That's the price you pay for forwards compatibility, much better than the Intel approach of offering very short lifecycles for motherboards by releasing i...

Re: Advice on what is salvagable

The joys of aging parents. We should count ourself lucky to still have the folks around. When my old man injured his back and was forced to bed rest for over a month a few years ago he was miserable and it was hard for that not to bring you down to some extent. He made a full recovery and despite m...

Re: Advice on what is salvagable

I would be careful with taking Umart (assuming that's where you take it) at face value if they say the build is a goner, I've seen other PC stores claim a PC is dead and try to strongarm customers into a new PC. I've seen enough shifty stuff from MSY and the like that I prefer to build and test all ...

Re: Advice on what is salvagable

So my desktop PC has been occasionally rebooting itself not long after loading up Windows. I'm taking it to the PC shop to get it diagnosed in the next week and a half (giving myself some time to back up everything). I'm not at all up to speed with current PC standards and what parts current mobos ...

Looks like another miss for me (my gaming time seems to be diminishing anyway). I hope when you are playing you're having fun. Re: Destiny 2

Not surprising that things have continued to trend down when it comes to Destiny. Back when Bungie were making Halo games Bungie could get away with an unbureaucratic and unstructured organisation because they had the right mix of employees and the teams were small compared to modern games. With how...

Re: Australian Parliamentarians a nest of dual citizenries

I really don't care? Can someone explain to me why it's a big deal? Because the politicians in question signed a statutory declaration. If politicians expect constituents to abide by the law then it is only appropriate that said politicians should also abide by the law. While a person having citize...

Ok... My modem that I got with my NBN with Internode (Basic TG-xxx something) is now losing connection pretty much every second night. I can't see anything that would say why it would be doing it. As soon as TPG bought Internode I knew all this was coming and got out as soon as I could. It's so sad to see it slowly gutted since the buy out. :( The last two ...

Re: The NBN thread

There are still so many variables I'm thinking of just waiting a bit longer till all the mess is sorted out. NBN aren't rerouting people's lines or remediating copper so nothing will change on the reliability front aside from having your premises wiring optimised if necessary. You may luck out with...
