Re: The NBN thread

Starting to think Internode is on it's way out... all my pings the last month have been up 50ms to game servers with fluctuating pings. As Internode was bought out by iinet, who was taken over by TPG supposedly.... I think I am going to get the short end of the stick sooner or later :( I am on ADSL2...

Re: The NBN thread

I've left Telstra altogether now, they are craptastic. It took me 6 months to get the name changed on the home phone from my dad to me so I could bundle... I am Internode bundled now, home phone and Internet, the billing system for bundled is somewhat confusing though and needs improvement :!: When ...

Steam link recommended I go wired when it saw the performance of my Wi-fi (wireless N 2 rooms away), so I'm hoping power over ethernet will fix the issues.
I am pretty sure you mean ethernet over power, not the other way around.

I know this is probably a stupid question, but cant you put the fan on the other side of the heatsync and have it pull instead of blow from the other side :?: I am not a fan of Noctua, I just replaced two fans in that brand that were craptastic and didn't do the job required of them. Re: Basic power over Ethernet setup

I assume you actually mean Ethernet-over-Power :?: I bought a pair of device once and discovered some quirks with it and have since not used them. The quirks being they run hot, they cannot be used with surge protected powerboards (so if you get surges your equipment may not be protected) and your c...

Mobile Phone, Bluetooth, Computer and Internet

Update: Scratch all this.

Apparently my phone can access Internet, but other devices cannot use that Internet connection through my Nokia 208 phone.

Instead I have to take my sim and put it in a USB Mobile Broadband Modem to use the data on my sim account with Amaysim, that way.

Currently I use Internode' DNS, but I've been told I may get better ping in my games if I use Google' DNS.

What are people' experience for their DNS settings :?:

I assume because I was with Internode I had to use their DNS, do I or don't I :?:

My Astone 360T is my HDD recorder and NAS. Sure it has its quirks, but it does the job just fine to backup all my network files to. I was looking at the pi to do essentially just basicly office apps, browse Internet/check email and Skype. If it'll do that it's perfect.

Not looking at it as a gaming platform.

Thanks for those links, am looking at them now :!:

Re: Graphics card - List all modes

$500 was my budget for a monitor only, I'd prolly spend more for a graphics card. Generally I tend to keep my spending to sub $500 for any 1 component, I am not rich and cannot spend thousands. I know for my own graphics card I can look up the Adapter tab and click List all modes, that is presumably what my graphics card supports.
