Oh wow, someone actually made a graphic lol.

Interesting how ASM2 costing $255 mil and making $709 mil is considered a failure, but I'm not a studio exec and have lower expectations :)

But back to Rogue One / Star Wars, and I was watching the Special Features disc for Force Awakens. The current president of Lucasfilm sounds like she knows what she's doing. Hell, ditching all of George Lucas' ideas for the sequels had some element of boldness to it.

The thing about the film "making $709 mil" is that the studio doesn't actually get all of that money.

Box office takings in the US are about a 50/50 split, so of the $202 mil, Sony got $101 mil.

Overseas is another story, sitting around a 30/70 split, and sometimes even lower. Therefore Sony saw around $151 mil of the $505 mil intl box office.

That makes for a total of around $261 mil, on a budget of $255 mil. So $6 mil profit...

It/'s probably higher than that, as the box office takings work on a system of the studios getting more money back in the first two weeks, followed by an ever increasing percentage going to the cinemas and distributors. Big super hero films and summer blockbusters are usually heavily front loaded, so that may get them a bit more money than the above.

And back on topic, can't wait to get the Force Awakens blu-ray, I've heard nothing but good things about the special features!

Looks to be shaping up nicely as a more gritty Star Wars:

I just hope the reshoots don't tone down the darker theme too much.

Oh man that shot of Stormtroopers striding along the beach. If it was George Lucas he'd have a pool of sandy water in the middle of a green screen sound stage.

The lack of green screen is strong with this one. I have faith that Disney wont meddle too much :).

I was getting Thin Red Line vibes from that whole thing haha... very nice shooting locations it seems.

Looking very good. Still looking darker and grittier than the regular installments, too. Can't wait to see the whole thing. :)
