So I'm not really sure why many people should be surprised about this, but Rogue One Will Feature Darth Vader. The reason I'm not surprised is due to the timeline it's set in. It's set during the events before Episode 4 and Darth Vadar was a key player in those events.

I'm massively looking forward to this...an awesome cast including Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen and Forrest Whitaker. Directed by the guy who did Godzilla.

And now Darth Vader. It's a good time to be a Star Wars fan.

Not to mention Hans Mikkelsen! I feel like I'm going to end up more excited for this than I was for ep 7

If it's before Episode IV then there was no Rogue Squadron, that sobriquet was applied later after the group was rebuilt by the two survivors of the Death Star trench run, Luke Skywalker and Wedge Antilles. Depending on which part of the canon you're in either Wedge or Luke was lead when Rogue was formed, though they also went by Red sometimes.

... yeah, anyway. X-Wings, sign me up. :D

Didn't wedge die in the trench run?

No, one of his engines got clipped so he couldn't keep up, Luke told him to get out. Biggs stayed behind Luke and got taken out. :(
Then Wedge was the one who took out the power regulator on the second Death Star just before the Falcon blew the main reactor in RotJ. :)

Wedge is rad, but didn't want to be in the new movies for understandable reasons

That's right!! I got Biggs and Wedge mixed up somehow!

He was offered a cameo role, he indicated if he was given an expanded role he'd be keen but it seems they didn't go down that road "“They asked me but it just would have bored me" is what he said about it

If true, I get it, he wanted a meaningful role and wasn't offered one, didn't want to just be in for fan service

Hell yeah, going to enjoy the Starwars band wagon for as long as I can, but I'm also concerned that I'm going to get burned out on them over the next few years like I have with superhero movies

Yeah, this is about the theft of the Death Star I plans, so it leads right in to Ep 4.
