Stunning day here, so lovely after the rain and storms we've had lately!

Also, this... 100 times, this:

If the unsub link is like some other sites (cough...gold coast theme parks... cough) and doesn't work, try a fake email address in the preferences link?

Silly me.. I only looked on their site under my account details. I thought if it was going to be anywhere it would be there... cheers. (both of you)

I'm reasonably certain that, by law, all emails must contain an unsubscribe link these days - so always look there first, you'll save yourself some frustration :)

I don't get why it'd be "by law" considering each company who does these newsletters would be from different countries. So don't think it'd be "by law", imo.

So that would be companies who trade in Australia then? But then those that don't, EG Valve/Steam for example, wouldn't have to, but they would have to abide their countries law?

Should have been more specific for you, I was implying companies that operate within Australia, such as JB Hi-Fi. I was working in a large law firm at the time this law was introduced and I had to create info packs for all of our commercial clients to ensure they implemented this on their marketing emails. I said reasonably certain because I've not worked in that field for a decade so I'm not up to date with any changes that may have been implemented. From memory though, the USA implemented similar laws around the same time.

We get the odd email at work asking to be unsubscribed, I feel like emailing them back and saying "clicking the link at the bottom would have been faster"

Now if only they would create a law where these kinds of emails had to be opt-in rather than opt-out!

Right? Same with snail mail, there's a company called Seton that I ordered some pipe markers and valve tags from back in 2010. They post me this giant freaking catalogue every 4 months. I've called and emailed them to advise not to send it, I'm not interested, if I want to buy from them I will look at their website yet they keep on sending it. I don't even open them, they go straight in the bin. Must cost them a mint.

Winning! I've had about 6-7 hours sleep in the past 3 days, I had to hit the ground running today as all work involving hydrofluoric acid had been shut down by head office pending verification of some critical controls. Because that was so important, I powered through the morning but now that's done and I've eaten lunch, I've hit a brick wall. Sleep is needed.

Surely there's an unsubscribe link at the bottom of the email? As a major Australian retailer it's a legal requirement that it be there and actually work.

I would give it 24 hours, sometimes their databases update overnight.

If you still receive emails from tomorrow onwards, I'd personally drop them a line via FB or Twitter to let them know their unsubscribe link has not worked correctly. They might be unaware it's not working?

The Spam Act 2003 says >a request to unsubscribe must be honoured within five working days.

So I would give it five working days. Sometimes they follow up an unsubscribe with more spam just cause you know its good business practice (lol).

22 is about perfect, IMO... we're getting to 33 and that's pretty close to my limit as far as heat is concerned - screw your temperatures, NTD.
