Why do things always go horribly wrong this time of year?

Left one of my contracted work places just before Yuletide only to have a woman decide that a give way sign does not apply to her and drove stright into the side of my car.

Only CTP as it wasn't worth getting full insurance due to the amount the car was worth. Now waiting to see if they decide if it is a right off which will fuck me right up as I cannot afford to get even a cheap arse car. No idea how I am going to get to work now.

Also just paid bloody rego the week before so having a very shitty time at the moment.

I thought if it was her fault, her insurance would pay book value on your car?

That sucks man, I'm in a similar position where my old falcon isn't worth paying full comp insurance and often wondered what I'd do if it got written off, probably end up driving some $500 pos

They do have to pay for it. But if it is written off I will not get back enough to be able to get a semi decent car.

Lots insurance companies will pay for your car/repairs immediately and then take it up with the other person and their insurance. It's a good system, you get your car on the road without hassle and the other guy can't wiggle their way out of 10 high priced insurance lawyers.

Haven't seen my parents for a while and they're travelling through on their way back from Adelaide and wanted to drop in and stay the night, which is great - then they didn't want to come to the NYE party we had planned with Mrs Disco's family (rude much), and now it turns out they're both very sick and still wanting to come anyway?

Pass, had to put on my asshole hat and tell them not to come if they're still stick.

had my mother come up to visit today, what a shit show.

She wanted us to go down to Bunbury for a few days and got shitty at me when I said no, its 1000 times eaiser for her and her partner to get up her with their own car and caravan than it would be for us to drive our 11 month old down there in a rental car and find somewhere to stay.

So she finally relented and they were going to drive up for the day to go to AQWA (Aquarium of WA) with us. They rock up while bubba is having a nap and wait until shes woken up and we've packed all her stuff to get ready to go to tell us they don't want to go because its so hot and my mum isn't feeling well... so in the end we went to a pub and they got paid for lunch then we went home and they did the drive back to bunbury, we had a quiet day in after that though so it was alright...

Yay family...

On the plus side I've been looking at investment properties.

Just to clear up insurance types

Compulsory Third Party - gotta have it - covers the other person if they are injured - doesn't cover any of the vehicles (any injuries you sustain should be covered by their CTP)
Third Party Property - covers the other person's vehicle if it is your fault*
Third Party Fire and Theft - covers the other person's vehicle if it is your fault - plus your car if stolen or burnt*
Comprehensive - all people, all vehicles, usually the contents of your vehicle

*often has a small amount for no-fault damage to your car

So if your car is damaged by another person, you sue them - and if they have insurance, the insurance company takes care of it. If you have comprehensive insurance, your insurance company takes care of suing the other person - or their insurance company. In reality most vehicle damage claims just get settled between insurance companies without going to court - because they all agree that the system works.

On the bright side - if the car is written off - you should be able to get a refund on the rego/CTP

Yep, Disco's parents are a pain in the arse.

With both of my brothers, if their inlaws are in the same location as my parents, both families will happily catch up and have a nice time - share a meal, have a few drinks, a few laughs and overall a nice time. Disco's parents? Fuck no.

In almost 6 years, the only time they've socialised with my parents outside of attending our wedding was our engagement party - they showed up late, drunk, were rude, stole food, tried to insist they be given some cake so they could leave immediately even though we hadn't cut it yet and basically made themselves look like rude pricks.

Didn't ask if they could come and visit this week, just told us the day we returned from our cruise that they were. Didn't ask if we had NYE plans, just decided they were our NYE plans and trumped anything we may have already arranged. I invited them to join my family for NYE fireworks/bbq/etc, no response, then Disco speaks to them on the phone and they suggest they're going to just sit at our house then and do nothing whilst we go and spend the night with my family. Disco flatly told them they are going to look like arseholes, and that they need to attend the fireworks.

and yeah, then they announce they're both sick as dogs... um, pass... take your germs (and your caravan full of filthy, unkempt dogs) elsewhere!

Family are AWESOME!!!
I love how my family seems like everyone elses when reading these stories...

I just have a mother-in-law who has 6 grand kids... but can't see any but the oldest.
Pretty much ignores the rest and lets him do what he wants.

We told her that we were taking him to a psych and were looking at getting him tested for ADHD and Autism. Her response - "Psychs screw with kids heads"... My wife in her head - "You screw with his head"

My dad is great, my mother is insane and upset that I didnt tale sides when they split up when I was 22, I remember that xmas having a birthday 5 days before Xmas I told them, one of you will aww me for my birthday dinner one will see me for Xmas, my mum called birthday and my dad was fine with it and he and I had an awesome Xmas day, she went psycho on me for not seeing her Xmas... Then we didn't talk for like 4 years. Then hardly talked for the next 4 until bubba came along. Now she is behaving herself mostly but still pushes it sometimes, like with the going to bunbury thing and acting like we need to do more for her.

My dad on the other hand decided he wanted us up in Darwin for Easter so he got us flights and a 2 bedroom apartment for the whole weekend as an Xmas present.

Had a mini rage out in Rivers earlier, went down there to grab some stuff since they're having a huge sale, only to find everything I wanted was $5 more expensive in store than as advertised on the website, and the nasty witch behind the counter couldn't have cared less. Just told her that these items are advertised at cheaper prices online, she asked by how much and then told me there wasn't anything she could do - she has the personality of a cold brick.

Ended up telling not a problem, you can't help and I can't buy this stuff, and walked out leaving it on the counter.

And that's when you post a complaint to the ACCC. They have to honour advertised prices, though there is a good chance there is a tiny disclaimer on the website prices saying online only or some such.

I sent through a complaint to Rivers themselves, which I doubt they'll care about but you never know, CBF with the ACCC really and I did have a look around on their website for a disclaimer but couldn't see anything, but who knows.

Really if the woman had said to me "I'm really sorry but we aren't able to match the online prices as it's Rivers policy", I'd have thought, yeah, fair enough that sucks, still not buying them but it was her attitude that pissed me off the most

Disco and I are on a roll with the complaints, I send one to Hungry Jacks as well.

Went through the drive thru a few nights ago, got home and discovered they hadn't provided the 12 nuggets we ordered. Drove back, approached the window and told the girl that there were items missing from our order. No apology at all, just stomped off to arrange the nuggets and came back and told me I'd have to wait for them to be cooked. I then asked her to replace our entire order, not unreasonable in my opinion as it had now been 25-30 minutes since the original meal had been provided so the chips etc were cold. She snatched the bag from me shouting that she needs a manager. When she came back and provided the meals, she didn't provide the sweet n sour sauce so I asked for those, she grabbed them and all but hurled them through the window at me and then turned her back without a word. At no time did she apologise for their error, or say anything even remotely customer-servicy, and she was downright rude about it all.

Hnnnk, our internet is so slow this morning - less than 1mbps, might have to call TPG and see whats up if it doesn't fix itself soon, first call to them in years

We rarely have any problems with TPG, except when it rains which isn't really their fault - seems to be better now though.

Been having a weird problem where my PC randomly disconnects from the wifi though, happens every half hour or so (the internet is fine, no drop outs on any other devices, just the PC). Plugged in via a cable at the moment but wondering if my wifi card is on it's way out.

That always seems a bit of a dick move. Someone on the checkout has no power to do anything about it - it's not like they are going out of their way to spite you.
