Sounds exactly like standard panicked shill talk to me  .
Not here to shill, with anything there is risk.
I'm also not one who brought in at 16k and need to on-sell. Bitcoin (BCH) is not a ponzi. It's a global currency.
Anyone risking more than they can afford lose on any "investment" is a fool... including lotto.

Happy to educate anyone interested. regardless of if you start using it or not. Notice I said using, not holding...
The brilliance of the original whitepaper is what got me into Bitcoin years ago, not the price https://www.bitcoincash.org/bitcoin.pdf
What on earth can you use Bitcoin for, other than buying drugs?
Pretty much anything. Can even pay your BPAY bills.... Via a third party service sure...

Eh, just seems like playing with fire to me.. I could pay my bill with real money that's worth what it's worth, or I could buy $100 worth of Bitcoin, then something happens and I only have $50 worth of Bitcoin (or $150 worth, I know).

The risk v reward there just isn't worth it for me.

Trying to make wise investments for the future seems a hopeless endeavour - might as well just hope on a dream and buy a lottery ticket.
I don't know where you got that from, you should plan for the future, and then hope for a little luck as well
It would be a terrible investment to invest in lottery tickets as a retirement strategy. But I think what the comments are showing is there's no sure thing alternative that a minimal expenditure on lottery tickets wouldn't be put to better use with. But it's gonna be an entertainment expense rather than a money making thing. Same goes for bitcoin or any other cryptocurrency, or gambling on sport.

Bought my unofficial syndicate's Powerball ticket! PowerHits are such low entertainment value.

So uh, it turns out that my mother has spent about $15,000 on Candy Crush Saga and Double Down Casino on Facebook.

Don't underestimate what you can with a credit card and a healthy dose of stupid

This from a woman who whenever I buy something, likes to tell me "it must be nice to have money"

Now you can say back "I have money because I don't waste it on Facebook games"

Pretty easy to spend a lot of money on those games, they are designed that way on purpose.

If you are feeling particularly vindictive you could let her know the industry term for somebody who spends a lot on those games is 'whale'

So I'm meant to be starting at my new job on Monday, but I only got the police check form yesterday (and informed what it was for today since I was initially advised I didn't need to do another one so soon), so I might be having an unscheduled holiday next week while I wait for paperwork to go through.

You did better than me lol, I just broke even after winning $50 and then buying more lotto tickets with it.

Apparently the two winners sharing the $100m pot might not know yet, one was an unregistered ticket, the other was an online ticket but they didn't have contact details entered correctly

Got a new round of "spend $50 each week for 4 weeks and get 10,000 bonus points" from Coles. Easily made it to $50 in tonight's grocery run considering they had some 700mL jars of organic coconut oil for $7. Currently sitting on about 17k flybuy points.

Also got mum's unlock code for her Nokia 3310 for free from Vodafone. Winning!

I have to do $90 a week for 4 weeks, though I have over 50,000 points. They give them to me faster than I can spend them.

Yeah, unlike Woolies which forces the spend of points on you if you have 2000 or more, Coles allows you to bank them up and only allows spend of 2000 points at any one time. I'm also not sure if redeeming $10 of points means I effectively have to buy at least $60 of stuff so I never spend it unless I'm just buying $10-20 of stuff on a random shopping run.

Yes, it does mean that. Annoying the first time I missed out on the bonus points that way. But if you spend more than 60, then redeeming is a good way to use the points.

I think my thing has been that I only really shop once a week, so getting big hits of bonus points accumulated faster than I can spend it.

I use to spend more than $60/week but lately, with rising costs, I've been working my way down to just over $50... helps that I now have excel on my phone with my shopping list and keep track of how much each item is costing me. Been also weighing what I buy from the vege department this past 6 weeks. Getting better at gauging those scales... was only 4c off what I paid!

Of course, this is just my weekly, big grocery run. I still duck into the Woolies next to the train station on my way to work to grab the odd breakfast or snack for the week. That use to help with the "spend $80-100 per week" deals that Woolies sent me especially if I bought a packaged meal for lunch too but I found that was causing me to over spend. I now just get the odd item that Woolies stock which Coles doesn't and do my bulk grocery run at Coles. The random grocery runs only costs $15-25 now too and I'm starting to eat less muffins, croissants, and banana bread which is good.

The unfortunate thing is that I'm getting more Coles points now but my random grocery runs is from Woolies. I think I'll get to your situation where there's more points than I can spend - lol

I find that when I house sit, I use my flybuy points then... there's a Coles close to my bro's place and I tend to just grab occasional things as I need them with purchases more than $10 but under $20. I think I went through $30 or $40 of bonus points around new years when I house sat for him.

Ended my job on Friday in anticipation of starting in a new role today. But the police check hasn't come though, so I'm sitting at home instead.

Had a blood test done this morning, which I have done fairly frequently these days - I don't know what the lady did but holy snaps, my arm is in agony - aching/throbbing and hurts to lift or move it etc.
