Unlike Disco, I have literally hibernated all winter, and if I don't move my arse my husband is about to weigh less than me. I'm happy for his progress and really proud of him, but at the same time I'm not okay with the way the pendulum is swinging for me.

My goal for October:

- Be accountable for what I eat
- Be active
- Be grateful
- Lose 4-5 kilograms
- Enjoy the sunshine

My plan to achieve the above:

- Record my food intake daily via LoseIt
- Keep my daily energy intake under 1500 calories, with the exception of Saturday night 'treat meal'
- Lift weights 3 times a week
- Walk 30 minutes/day on non-lifting weekdays, with walks on lifting days optional
- Take longer walks on weekends with Disco and the puppers in tow
- Weigh in and record my weight regularly, reporting back here once a week.
- Record three things I am grateful for daily
- Spend more time outdoors

Such specific goals! I like that.

Right now for me, I'm trying habit-forming more than anything. These habits include:
- keep track of everything I eat and drink with the goal of running a ~0.5kg/week calorie deficit.
- do at least 10,000 steps a day every day.
- jog most mornings, and do body weight exercises at least twice a week.

Trying to build a foundation for further weight loss and improving my running ability.

I'm in at 1485 calories for the day, recorded.

30 minute walk in the sunshine complete.

Deadlifts complete.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee had a service today, grateful to have a car I love. RMH is basically empty tonight, grateful there aren’t many kids in the mental health ward over the holidays. Paid a bomb for my specialist today, grateful to have an amazing endocrinologist looking after me.

No specific fitness goals for me this month apart from eating properly so I don't put on more weight. I have a tear in my left plantar fascia that was probably exacerbated by the 10k steps challenge. Can't wait to see the doctor next week to see what he has to say.

Yeah, it's been that way for over a year now... initial ultrasound conclusion was that it was plantar fibromatosis (thickening of tissue around the heel) which the podiatrist tried managing with orthotics. Didn't do much after a few months so we did another scan which concluded it was a tear. Now, with two conflicting ultrasounds, I got sent to do an MRI which then concluded it was the plantar fibromatosis. The Podiatrist still referred me to a GP who could get a referral to some specialists to look at the matter. Now that a few months have passed, I think the tear has gotten worse so the last MRI I did a few weeks back concluded that it's a tear. At least it's not the nerve as the specialist indicated would be the worse case scenario. I'm just hoping the problem isn't chronic at this point.

I suppose today doesn't count, but I did do my steps (~19K) including a morning run involving intervals, and just stayed under my calorie target (though I'm feeling quite hungry).

I think tomorrow will be tougher to achieve the goals. Since I've done 3 runs over the last three days, I think my body needs a day off, but I'll see how I feel in the morning.

Today has started out stressfully - all of my volunteers working prior to 1pm have texted me to cancel their shifts for various reasons. I have contactors on site repairing the wall we had to rip apart to find a water leak, they can't be left unattended but I have to go for an ultrasound at 10.30am. So I'm sitting in pathology waiting for a blood draw, furiously texting my other volunteers to see if someone can cover the House long enough for me to attend my medical appointment as it's time-sensitive that I have the tests this morning.

When I'm stressed, that's when I usually have a 'stuff this' moment and make poor choices, so just need to take a deep breath and stay focused.

19k steps is impressive... being hungry sucks though, I hate that sensation.

Everything is so much easier when the weather is nice.. yesterday was a 30 minute walk after work with the dogs and then Deadlifts with Mrs Disco, today was Jiu Jitsu, it's nice not being freezing all the time, or trying to go for a walk with a flash light.

The downside to the slightly warmer weather.. sweat, I have never sweat as much as I do when I'm rolling, my secret attack is to drip sweat on people and I'm disgusted

Well ~6,500 of those steps were the morning run. So 12,500 for the rest of the day, which isn't much more than the minimum recommended.

Yeah, it really sucks. Been doing it for just over a week now, and most nights I go to bed somewhat hungry and I've even woken up at 4am with hunger pangs. It's one reason why I'm limiting myself to running only a slight calorie defecit in order to be able to keep it up over the long term.

Soooo we ordered a pizza tonight after a shitty day with shitty news from my specialist tonight. On the upside, instead of getting two pizzas and Wings we got a small pizza and just had two slices each so we didn't really damage our energy intake.

Sorry to hear, shitty news is never good. Hope you and Disco can get through it.

My day yesterday:
- ~12,500 steps
- body weight exercise circuit
- possibly stayed under calorie goal (takeaway Indian, impossible to put an accurate number on it)

So hard to accurately account for calories with take away, isn't it.

Yeah, it is. I try to be a little conservative by finding similar foods on my app then padding them a bit for good measure.

They're also awful for daily monitoring of weight because they're usually loaded with so much salt that I've found 1-1.5kg gains the next day - all water weight.

Going to be tough today, shit weather, rain and cold (can't complain about the rain tho), makes things like curries, or chips and gravy seem REALLY appealing

Last night was a bit eh, ended up having a green chicken curry with rice and enjoying the hell out of it, it was about 2x more food than I needed.. but whatevers!

What's your calorie intake like Storm?

I'm fairly confident I stayed under my calorie goal - I had a ham/cheese/guacamole on grain toastie and an OJ for lunch, which was around 500 calories all up. That left me with 1000 calories to burn, and I had half a hamburger and 2 glasses of wine for dinner. No idea what the calories were in that but I doubt it was >1000.

Didn't lift, it was raining and cold and shit... Disco and I are pathetic, the moment the weather goes to shit, so does our commitment to anything other than the couch.

Still internally frustrated with the specialist stuff, but yesterday I was grateful for the rain as we so desperately need it, grateful that Disco shaved his beard as it kept getting in my mouth during.. uh... relations. And grateful for a 1 hour early mark from work (so grateful, in fact, that I may have another one today ).

Weekend was a complete write off.

Dropped in to a bar for a drinks think on Friday, got there at 5.30 with the intention of staying for one hour but didn't get home until 10.30pm. Discovered I am quite fond of Cumulus Rose.

Saturday had a late lunch thing with friends and sushi dinner with Disco.

Today I had a loungeroom full of handsome gents with drinks and snacks to watch the UFC.

Will have to try much harder next weekend not to balls things up so badly. The weekend was good for my mental health though.

There's always going to be write-off weekends. Mine will be next weekend as I'm going to the coast for 3 days. Will still try to exercise, but my food budget gets smashed.

Yesterday:
- 11.5km low intensity jog
- ~21000 steps
- under calorie budget

Woke up pretty hungry this morning, today is going to be tricky to stay under. Might go over by a little. On a positive note, in the last 12 days, I've dropped 2.4kg, though I'm sure some(most tbh) of that is water weight including burning off glycogen reserves. Still, though, it is encouraging.
