Secret Santa?

Want a new group or a setting changed, this would be a good place to ask.

Secret Santa?

Post by MUG » 05 Nov 2015, 22:48

Doing secret santa here Punkley?

I know there was quite an interest over on GON forums again this year, but they'll be gone by the time it kicks off.

I'm not putting my hand up for it and others have done a grand job in past years, just putting the subject out there.

You ran it last year and I feel it went pretty well. If you're willing to give it a go again, that would be great. Unless someone else wants to stick their hand up so you can get a turn at being a giftee :)

I was raised to not do things I wouldn't want done to myself. And that's why anal sex is off the agenda.

ooh actually you could be a problem (not in a mean way, gifts are usually based off steam wishlists but you share with disco when he's not playing those infernal cooking games)

i'm sure something can be worked out that doesn't exclude disco too much :P

Oh that's okay, I'm not too fussed... I can barely get to steam anyway 'cause he's always playing Cake Mania and Cook Serve Delicious!

We will have to think about time lines and dead lines and the like; and I will have to make an official post with all of the details.

My aim will be to try and avoid the issues that arose from last year's event…

From memory there were more than a few that didnt give a gift yet still received. How did you resolve it?

Excuse me? Everyone received ample giftage thank you very much and no one received anything unless they gave a gift.

I do not support freeloaders. Not only that but the spare games were handed out based on how much the giver received in relation to how much they gave.

I had many spread sheets with ratios and estimates and everything…

This was posted last year at the event's wind down but I might as well recap:

  • Sheets of the spreadsheet: 3.
  • Total Gifts: 279.
  • Total Secret Santas: 61.
  • Total Gift Givers: 63.
  • Smallest Amount Given: $1.99 (by two people and what was given was on the WL of the two giftees and the two giftees have been playing their games intently, so take that tiny number with a grain of salt – and context).
  • Largest Amount Given: $314.45.
  • Largest Amount Given to a Giftee: 101.03 (interestingly enough, to the same person that gave the largest amount to the pool. Instant karma's gonna get you. Alright!).
  • Average amount given: $46.62.
  • Spare Games Given: 84.
  • Games Still Left Over: 8 (If anyone owns a current gen console and has been a good gift giver, hit me up and I will see what I can do).
  • Most Gifted Games: Assassin’s Creed® IV Black Flag™ & Batman™: Arkham Origins (for those who received the latter: http://batmanarkhamoriginmap.info. you are welcome; made it myself).
  • Second Most Gifted Games: DARK SOULS™ II, Goat Simulator, & This War of Mine.
  • Most Games Sent from a Secret Santa to a Giftee: 14.
  • Last Person to Send Their First Gift: A long serving, well-loved GoN veteran.
  • First Person to Send a Gift to Giftee: a GoN poster of < five posts.
  • Total Gifts Sent by a Single Person: 22 (shared between two people).
  • Lowest Giving to Receiving Ratio: 0.17 (GoN forum posting veteran).
  • Highest Giving to Receiving Ratio: 7.07 (GoN poster of < fifty posts).
  • Number of People Who Looked a Gift Horse in the Mouth: Too many to count. (Seriously, people, when I send you a spare gift I did so for a reason, if you not want to play it then pass it on. How do you think it makes me feel when you say, yeah, all that work you did to work out to send this to me, just pretend you did not spend all that time doing that and just send it to someone else. Ta, buddy!).
  • Kind Words Said in Thanks to SS and to the SSSSS: WHY WASN'T I KEEPING COUNT OF THIS‽‽‽‽
  • Keys Sent that were Invalid: 2 (from the same person I might add, and no, I am not naming names).
  • Games Sent to the Steam Account Address to the Wrong Person: 1
  • Games Sent to the Wrong Person: 0 (one if you count the above).
  • Single Most Expensive Item Sent: $99.95.
  • Single Cheapest Item Sent: $0.59.
  • Games Sent Via PM: 62.
  • Games Sent Via Steam: 217.
  • Game Sent That Everyone Already Owns: Half Life 2: Episode One.

Just to remind you all, the stuff about posters of less than fifty posts and veterans is because, every year, there is a crap storm by certain people who believe new people should not participate. I was making a point that it is the GoN, and secret Santa, veterans that were dragging their feet, and not the ring-ins and thus, everyone should be allowed to join in…[/color]
