Basically we all get names at random and then you send stuff off around the same time.

Would be nice if it was going in time for the Thanksgiving Sale.

Limit?
I don't think we have ever had a limit in the past... was up to the person to decide how much they wanted to spend...

Is there a minimum spend? Limit doesn't matter too much, as no one is ever upset that someone spends more than the bare minimum on them.

Do we exchange wishlists somehow?

I know how a secret santa works in theory, I guess I was just interested in the specific rules on this one :)

You just have to make sure your wishlist is public in case your secret Santa isn't on your friends list, then you'll get PM'd your secret santa and send the gifts to the GON(PA) secret santa account and the do the swap over.

I don't think we have had a limit in the past, my wishlist is usually pretty varied between $5 and $50 games and I'm happy with whatever, last year I got I am Bread. that game is the fucking bomb.

I had better start looking at games then :)

I love Secret Santa. Only issue I have is, I already own almost 2,400 games on Steam. I'm honestly not too fussed with what I receive, but I do feel kind of bad since I don't really play a lot of games that I won't play the game(s) I'm given, not because I don't like them, but simply because I don't really play my games. Got to keep them in that mint condition.
I'm more in it for the giving. :)

I don't know if this is a silly suggestion or not, but for those who want to participate but don't really care to receive anything, could they not state that their wish is for their Secret Santa to give an amount of their choice to Player Attack to help support the forums instead of purchasing games?

I'm pretty sure Player Attack could provide a PayPal or Bank account for direct deposit (or it can be done through Patreon by pledging a monthly amount, waiting for it to process and then cancelling the ongoing support so it's only a once-off payment). As a form of 'control' to ensure those people did give, Pinothy could ask to be sent a copy of the receipt and/or a screen shot confirming the donation was made.

You are a secret Santa nightmare. If I get you I'm gonna buy you a physical gift and mail it to you. :P

I support this idea, but instead of supporting Player Attack (not saying you guys don't deserve it), maybe support a charity?
Electronic Frontier Foundation and Child's Play are pretty good charities to support. :)

Pinothy, you do realise you can edit your post, and just copy everything from the post? I know I can edit mine still. Maybe it's different since it's the first post?

Matty, I would welcome a gift from you. I have no doubt you'd print me something, interesting, with your lovely 3D printers.

I've heard the 'Help jambo Buy a GTX 980 Ti' charity is really good too.

Super Ta.

Okay. What I need from you folks are the dates. Start and end dates of sign ups. Cuttoffs. Start date of the giftocaypse? All of this stuff. I want to go live with this set in stone.

FYI: There are three sales at the end of the year: Thanksgiving, holiday, and winter. Holiday is the one we have always shoot for and it usually starts around the same time (usually). Last year it kicked off on the 19th Dec.

Another question, should I completely remove all of the friends from the Santa account and start again?

:)

Happy to go with whatever dates work for you dude... but would be good if we knew who our person was before the black friday sale if possible, but not too stressed if we don't. As long I can give my gift on or before 15th Dec, I'm sweet.

Locked posts are locked down (MUG extracted the BBCode for me)…

I'm happy with whatever dates work, also yeah might be an idea to purge santa just to save you confusion

Disco and I are away/overseas from 16th December, so as long as we can gift before then, we're sweet... if we can't, no drama, I'll just opt out.

I think removing everyone and starting fresh would be ideal, otherwise you might just make things more confusing for yourself.

That 2 week stretch for the summer/winter sale usually works :). Also another +1 here for purging Santa's friend list. Good luck with it.
