You can check your ping?
I didn't see anything in game for ping, will have to look again...

Think it's in the advanced graphics settings, a "show performance" box or something. Shows FPS in the top left along with ping.

Was killing it with some of my Quake buddies earlier. Once control point round we were down 99-0 getting smashed by a Widow and Genji, but we kept holding on to the OT and eventually turned it around to win. Was intense.

Reinhardt is really fun when you're right on the point going nuts. We had a huge standoff for like 2 minutes in Escort on Route 66. The payload was basically on the point, but we just couldn't get it over with them spawning and running out with 2 Tracers. It was my first Reinhardt game and I felt like I hadn't done much, but once we were in close quarters for so long I just went to town. Getting a good ulti with him, picking up 4 kills, then winning the game is a great feeling.

Pharah and Lucio are my favourites to play so far. Keen to spend some time on McCree, Junkrat and Zenyatta.

My favourites after playing a lot of games tonight...

Genji - Still love throwing the throwing stars...
Bastion - Love turning into a turret, and if positioned right can be a nasty thing to try and kill
Torbjorn - His turret can be nasty (again when positioned just right)
Pharah - Still learning the flying side of her, but the rockets are useful against the 2 turret guys above...

My thoughts -
Team work is almost required on most maps, if you aren't working together then you are getting picked off 1 by 1
The game is a lot of fun and the different characters have enough variation to give some change in the game
I will be going ahead with my pre-order on this one, have had a lot of fun, and that was just tonight.

I finally played a decent game with Zenyatta tonight. Was healing the right people at the right times, got some really vital discord orbs out and actually felt like I had an impact on the game flow. We were playing attack into a team with a Bastion and a Reinhardt, so getting both of them with discord was really important to our attacks moving a payload up. Zenyatta is definitely a good counter to those two, but especially Bastion who just sets up in one place.

Bastion is kind of broken imo. The turret form is really strong, but to reload you can just change back into the recon mode and when you redeploy you have full ammo again. You should be able to get up and move whenever, but having it count as a reload too is so strong it's ridiculous. There's a reason so many Bastions set up shop near the health pickups. Moving to them is totally free - the time it takes to get up, move and redeploy isn't too much more than a reload.

I've been playing the random heroes playlist so I get to try all of them at random, it's pretty good. While Tracer is still my favourite character I've had good success with Junk and... uhh... the fat pig guy. And got a 13 kill streak once as Reaper with some assistance from an Angel, which was pretty funny. Took a screenshot but the UI went away so I just have two of his shotguns on the ground while a character runs away after killing me. :(

I've only played games vs ai so far to get a feel for the characters before inflicting others with my terrible shooting... But holy shit bastion vs ai is hilarious. Mow down an entire team. No matter the game mode, if your team is failing, just switch to bastion and get play of the game. @_@

Can only assume being that immobile vs people has got to be an issue though

I don't think mobility is an issue with Bastion. You really only use sentry at the right moments. You can also rocket jump with his ulti.

The AI is so trash it isn't worth playing them IMO. Just jump in to games, and talk to your team if possible. A bit of communication and you should pick things up pretty quickly. If you're bad at shooting avoid the attacking heroes.

The key to Bastion is smart positioning. There are lots of really strong places around the maps to deploy with him, it's just a matter of knowing which ones to go to and when to leave. It's important that you're aware of your team, and know how the enemy are playing. If you're getting killed by a Tracer all the time then you need to either communicate that to your team or consider swapping hero for a bit.

Bastion gets stronger in bigger parties when you're all communicating well. I played some pubs against shitty teams that didn't support their Bastion and it's night and day to a team that plays around their turret friend.

Had a good time before with Phylum.

Then jumped on for a few quick games, lost 5 in a row. Every game we had 2-3 people leave within the first minute which fucked teams up... then takes almost the whole game to fill those spots. Which makes no sense to me because I always wait ~1 minute for a position... and surely there's plenty of people that could jump in.

It's worse in a competitive match, if people leave, the spots do not get re-filled.

We played those scrim games this evening Artful and got fucking smashed. The other guys were so good, they knew how to setup and stuff. We didn't stand a chance, even with some good aimers on board.

I've played a few good games as McCree now, but I seem to gravitate to support and defense because I'm not a great aimer. McCree is a lot of fun though. The accuracy is rewarding if you're hitting shots and setting up the stun traps is a lot of fun. I got to play Junkrat a few times too when our main Junkrat player was having dinner, and I was getting some really solid spam in with him.

Highlights of the night were probably countering a good Reinhardt with Bastion though, just committing to smashing the shield and then falling back a few times.

Got a mate that's after one if you've still got a spare?

Yeah the ai is pretty terrible, the jump from medium to hard is interesting, really medium should be easy or they just need an extra level of difficulty.

Either way I'm enjoying the game.

Though it feels like being support doesn't earn you as much love, ever see a healer get play of the match? Is that even possible? Aside from forsaking your teammates and lashing out some damage that is. I guess the end of round stats doesn't really give people a decent indication of who to vote for. That and I'm not really sure what the end results if those votes even entails? Is it extra loot?

Getting into a game 20 seconds before the game is lost is somewhat annoying haha @_@

While fun, I don't think I can justify the $70 cost of entry to it. For me, the reward structure feels very much like it's from a far cheaper game than a full priced one.

I'll play it a bit more tonight/over the weekend, but I'm not sure I'll come around to wanting to buy it

I'm enjoying it enough to warrant the $90 entry point for me. Which is a rarity.
I think I will be able to get my moneys worth out of it over the next year or so.

Few more games last night, and wow some teams have no idea how to work together in the slightest...
Enjoyed playing as Junkrat, grenading people around corners and leaving mines behind for them are great fun...

Don't use my own logic against me, though that means I only need 18 hours to get some fancy Diablo 3 wings :p

I've seen a healer (Mercy) get play of the match just once in however many matches I've played. I think it's a mix of there not being anything like an uber from TF2, just generally keeping everyone on their feet, coupled with there just not being as many healers versus damage dealers in a match. Plus seeing the great kills is a bit more interesting than watching a healer just doing their job healing people.
Makena wrote:For me, the reward structure feels very much like it's from a far cheaper game than a full priced one.
Yes, especially with the prices of some of the unlocks for characters, there should either be a guaranteed credit drop from loot boxes or a few credits per match or something. If you want one of the 2,000 credit skins that's either going to be a very lucky loot box find or saving up a lot of credits, which you can only find at random in loot boxes.

I've had several play's of the match as Lucio. He's my go to support guy. I really enjoy playing as him. He's a great healer, with constant passive heals, and he does pretty decent damage compared to some others. His ulti is superb if timed well also.

My biggest issue I have had lately is my ping has been huge for a couple of games...
Going from 30ms one game to 1000ms the next...

But it seemed to only last a game and the next would be fine.
