Rocket League

You could step outside and take part in some sort of team activity... or you could hit Start instead.

It should have rolled out across everything.
I have played against PS4 people in the BBall type, so I assume so.

The AI seems so ill-suited to the basketball. Though I am too, so it makes for a challenge.

I'm loving it... but then again, playing with people you know and can talk to makes it a lot more fun...

Also making it 3v3 in a private scrim led to madness...

Played my first game against the CPU earlier. I scored first which was a good sign. Then I got boost and jump mixed up and fumbled up the team's defense a minute later. Yeah I need more practice but so far I can see why so many people are into this game. Will have to see how I do against humans.

93 hours of play time, and finally I've tried my hand at playing online against strangers.

Wow...
I have 150 hours.... and I think 149 of that would be online...
Hit me up if I am online, usually up for a game.

I have a saying I often use: "hell is Internet multiplayer". People are jerks online, and especially so when it comes to gaming (don't get why people take gaming so seriously). Takes all the fun out of the activity - so I tend to avoid playing online.

That said, Rocket League is just a hell of a lot of fun, and humans play a totally different style of game to the AI so I have a new learning curve. I'll definitely take you up on the offer, though.

Had a guy last night is competitive talking crap... was ranked about 5 ranks higher than anyone on our team. Power leveling his mates, so getting put against lower opponents.

Suddenly stopped talking smack when we started to beat them... and then won in overtime. I have never seen 3 people leave the after game screen as fast

That said, I turned in game voice chat off because I can't stand listening to randoms, and have been very tempted to turn off the text chat...
Competitive brings out the worst in people, it is Rocket League for crying out loud, how can you not enjoy yourself?

LOL. Yeah, the interwebs has got a lot of these idiots.

It's worse when it's your own team mates. I was in a few games of HOTS last night and my own team was dissing my performance. Given that my account wasn't even 20 as of last night and everyone else was at max lvl40 (and then god knows how many hours of play beyond that), it's pretty hard not to see that I'm still learning the ropes and strategies for each map and character.

I always feel sorry for these competitive @rseholes... they have the drive to win but the wrong attitude to be respected or the know how to put together a winning team.

I always relate one's luck with team members (in any situation) back to a high school class... How many were high performers? And what's your chances of getting all high performers or even all above average performers in a team?

It ain't always gonna be the case that one ends up with all solid performers. The success of the team depends on the leader (sometime self proclaimed leader) being able to coach the weakest link.

If that guy you played against last night spent more time communicating with his team mates and coaching them than trash talking you guys down, it may have been a different story.

Put in about ~10 hours into online play and I've finally started encountering dickheads. Holy shit some people take what happens in this game personally.

I've around 270hrs, of nearly all online play, and in that time there has definitely been no shortage of dickheads. Unless playing with people I know, I know disable all text and voice communication in game (which is a great feature) and just rely on the DPAD quick message options. No more having to read/listen to idiots and I enjoy the game much more for it.

Didn't realise I could do that. Thanks!

I suppose it doesn't get filter out the sarcastic "what a save", but does get rid of the "fuckin retard" comments.

Yeah the "What A Save" comments are the only real thing to have to ignore then, which is still damn annoying at times.

People pay attention to chat? When did this start happening?
I look at chatboxes like I do my email spambox - I don't.

Contrary to PC, one of the few perks when gaming on console is that a chatbox doesn't really exist.

Haha, I have in game voice chat completely disabled.
I have left the text chat on... but if it still allows for the quick chat menu then I may disable it as well.

I agree on the dickheads... and is hilarious when they start being idiots because they beat you in a game, then you play them again and flog them...
Amazing how quiet some go... others just calling you everything under the sun.

I'm with Dex though, ignoring it is great. I forget it is up there most of the time.

I apply the same to most games with chatboxes - there are a few times I might actually pay attention, it's usually when someone has something of value to contribute. It's rare.

Dickheads are everywhere - there is no game that doesn't have its dickheads. Learning to accept that they are there and ignoring it is such a great virtue.

You'll find people don't listen to the dickheads even though their voice is loudest, so long as you act like they're not there other players doing the same will hear you and listen over their bs.

best example of this is Trade Chats in MMO's (if you've played any).
