Rocket League

Anybody playing regularly? If you haven't heard, there is a new update coming this month that adds UT style Mutators to the game (low gravity and all that kind of thing), but the change that interests me the most is the new Ice Hockey mode coming in December. Though not messing with the core gameplay much, it will provide a different approach to the way you play, which should be really interesting.

Maybe in the future, when this place has had time for people to sign up to the forums, we could organise a Player Attack Rocket League night, or tournament.

Somehow I have put 76 hrs into it, so I guess I would have to say yes! I think it really depends though, if repetition bores you easily then it's probably not for you, as mainly it is just 5 minutes games of 3 v 3 vehicle soccer. But if you like competitive "sports" games it is a load of fun. It also is cross platform with PS4, so there is a LOT of users playing it, meaning it never takes more than 10-15 seconds to find a match at any time of day.

There is a learning curve to it, that I am even still getting my head around after so many hours, but it matches you to games based on skill, which mostly works out okay. Lots of it on Twitch to watch if you want to get a better idea of it.

EDIT - Oh and it is very much a gamepad game. Trying to play this on the keyboard would make you want to scream!

It is! I think there is a few limitations on in-game chat, and creating a party/team between platforms (I'd have to look into that) but yep it absolutely allows Steam and PS4 users to play together!

Don't worry about sucking. I have my days where l feel awesome at it, then days when I get my ass handed to me by rookies. It's pretty random!

I had a great time playing this locally with some mates on a PS4, never tweaked that I should give it a crack on Steam.

Downloading at the moment, so I'll be looking forward to some future multiplayer nights!

Sounds like rounding up people for a Rocket League night won't be too hard. Will definitely have to make this happen in the near future.

It coming with PS+ is what made it so popular, because all the YouTubers started playing it, and it just spreed.

Qick thing about Rocket League. Its actually a squeal. The first game was called *Takes a deep breath* Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars

I had heard of SARPBC but never looked into it. I wish I had known more about it before as I would have loved to play it.

(Edit: Purchased and will download tonight, might be able to get some gaming in tomorrow night if all goes well... )

Is it viable to play with kb/m?

I've only played with a DS4 so far on PS4 and it seems like it might not transfer well to a PC layout.

I'd probably rather hit myself in the face with a hammer than try to play it with a kb/m. I think it would prove really damn hard!

It's all the flipping and jumping that would make it really frustrating.

Its very viavble. Me and a mate went in to a local lan comp at a lan cafe, and we where using 360 controllers, and the winners of the comp where KB/Ming it up.

My advise tho, is to pick one and stick to it. It will be like re-lerning the game if you plan to switch between it.

I prefer KB/M so I'll probably stick with that.

G'day Mearehear. It's good to see you've already been installed into this place :P

I put about 60 hours into Rocket League and then got distracted by other games for a month or so. When I went to play it again recently I was super rusty. It turns out you have to keep playing it to keep your skills up.

Hi mate! Good to see yet another familiar name here too! :)

Not playing for just a few days makes me rusty as hell too! I just reached "veteran" level (30) today, yet was playing so damn bad (completely missing the ball at times, ugh!). I'm glad we are getting a bit of a list of players here, as I can definitely see a fun Rocket League night happening in the near future, or at the very least we have people from here to party up with and play against randoms.

Do any of you play ranked? I haven't played one game of ranked yet.

I've played a few ranked games but because I wasn't the party leader, I can't see our progress. It seems you can really only track the rankings of teams that you've lead yourself. I guess it's the only way they could do it, or maybe it's changed since.
