Recommendations on noise-cancelling headphones

Post by solo0017 » 30 May 2017, 13:19

Hi All

I am thinking about buying a pair of noise-cancelling headphones to use while travelling and at home while on the computer and wanted to know if there are any recommendations anyone can make. I've had a look on headphones.com.au and liked the look of the ATH-ANC70. I'd be looking at an over-ear design with active noise-cancellation (but would be open to passive if a particular model did it well enough). My budget would be around $200-$250.

Thanks.

If you can up your budget, I can't recommend the Bose QC25 headphones highly enough.

I have a set of ATH-ANC9's, absolutely love them and would happily recommend them, can be had for about $230 around various places

How do they go blocking out plane cabin/engine noise (if you know)? Do you know of any stores that stock the ANC9s so I could give them a try? I'm in Adelaide but will be travelling to Melbourne and Sydney over the coming months so if you know of somewhere in any city that would be great.

I've seen that Myer and JBs stock the QC25s so I'll duck in and try them out.

I found they worked super well, to the point I'd be genuinely surprised when taking them off at just how loud the environment was on a plane, I've used them going to the US and the UK, and didn't have any major discomfort (Certainly nothing beyond what I'd expect from wearing headphones for 14-20 hours straight)

I got mine at https://www.storedj.com.au/ who have a store in most cities but not Adelaide, I'm sure other places stock them but I haven't really hunted

Can get them for nearly $200 at MWAVE - https://staticice.com.au/cgi-bin/search ... NC9&spos=3
I do wonder how they compare to a headphone that is a lot more expensive in the ATH-MSR7NC...
