the redistribution has included the town of Yass which has grown rather labor, my sister lives there and the population has changed with folks working in Canberra living in Yass due to the lower house prices in Yass

I think the bellwether title may be lost... but early days in this count anything could happen lol

Oh shit Labor shot ahead. I tried to calculate where the other seats would go last night and i predicted a liberal win by like, a seat. Might not happen now.

EDIT: I looked at it again. Of the 7 seats lib/nat will most likely pick up 5, Labor will pick up 1. Nick might get grey.

If this happens, it will be 72 Libs, 72 Lab, and 6 others. In this case Xenophons and green will probably support labor, Katter will probably support libs making the totals to 73 lib and 75 Lab with the last 2 independents having to choose a side. (I don't know who the independents are or who they'd side with).

If Nick doesn't get Grey, it'll be 74 74 with the 2 independents again having to choose. What a time to be one of those 2 independents.

brilliant version, but the 1980's Robert Smith is the one I grew to love, clean and intense... so much good music though and I often play the Kiss me double LP, great on vinyl :D

Man there's going to be so many recounts before we get a rock solid result. They should just stop the primary counts now and get started on the recount straight away, it'll save so much time.

If there's one thing I like about elections, it's the political comics and parodies that come out of it.

Apart from that...

the election that keeps on giving...

barry cassidy reckons we should know by wednesday night in all but 2 seats; by his estimate the best the libs can hope for is 75 (1 short) and quite possible to end up with 72 each and a handful of indys.

and the senate is looking like a nightmare for the libs with probably 9 greens and 10 others and the libs would need to secure 9 of the 10 to pass anything that the greens and labor oppose...lol

Wasn't that why we had this election to start with?

Nah if Mal goes down, Julie will too IMO. There are elements in the party that are putting a bit of the blame of this result on her. Bolt singled her out yesterday, and so did Briggs for him losing his seat (over the way she handled his indiscretion in Hong Kong I believe)

I think her being the perpetual deputy (deputy under 5 separate leaders from memory) has also started to work against her in giving an impression that she is disloyal. The Abbott camp especially see her that way after what happened with him being deposed last year.

I think the cockroach has one more leader swap in her, though it may depend on who replaces Malcolm when it happens. Not sure Turnbull can survive this disaster, but especially not if they don't get a majority or they get as hostile a senate as it looks like they'll have.

the Abbott camp is dead, Cory pretty much killed it off tonight with Leigh and maybe Julie is off with that, floating down the river on a lylo... could be Scott's chance to ride high.

oh and Bolt only the extreme retards listen to that fail... what a fucktard is Bolt

Removing Bishop from cabinet could end up being a very bad move as she is one of their best campaigners and there may be another election. She is a power player out west and the election didn't go badly out west so it would be foolish to move against her and upset her faction.

Even the general public could see Abbott was in trouble and the six month deadline he gave himself was a grave mistake.

I think the conservatives are the ones who have to do the most soul searching to do, with Abbott as PM the election would have been an outright loss. The right has to acknowledge that shackling Turnbull to their agenda destroyed any chance of the LNP easily winning another term.

I wouldn't blame Turnbull for resigning as he was always set up to fail by the right and his poor judgement about the MTM, proposed company tax cuts and the double dissolution election were extraordinary blunders.

Turnbull was and continues to be a poor politician with questionable judgement and now that his personal popularity is trashed he may be done sooner rather than later.

I think this article from 2009 is applicable for Turnbull now.
Brilliant and fearless but Paul Keating was right about Turnbull

Derryn on Pauline Hanson this morning:
She is very pleasant and what comes out of her mouth is not that pleasant. She is talking about having CCTV cameras in mosques, and people go, 'Well, why don't you put it in churches to keep an eye on the paedophile priests.' Doesn't make sense.
He's also pro-animal rights, marriage equality and the whatnot. Couldn't find anything on his views on climate change. Either way, he dislikes Pauline. And that's good enough for me.

I have mixed views on his main platform about the justice system, paedophiles, etc but like I said, I'd throw him "a" vote, not my number one vote :D

I have no idea what darren hynchs thoughts on the justice system are but it needs to change.

I've seen too many innocent people get screwed by it and too many guilty get away with murder or worse.

It really is a system you can only be content with if you never experience it.

One of his justice system policy reforms is a public sex offender list, which I don't agree with. Amusingly he should be put on said register

http://www.justiceparty.com.au/#!public ... ders/z2xra
which shows: the offender's photo, name and aliases, crime (as in sexual assault of an adult / sexual assault of a child (under 18yrs, under 10), offender's address, year in which they committed the crime.
