Given how badly I type on a phone, I no longer make a big deal about really bad typos. Granted the POTUS is meant to be held to a higher standard than me, but still... we are all at the mercy of autocorrect.

I hate autocorrect. It work s too well sometimes when you don't want it to and not at all when u need it to.

You know what I hate? People.
Stupid people specifically.
I had to ask our whole network to fill out one form that would take no more than 5-10 minutes,
People are the worst - This
"Formal invite when I have RSVPs ....

Elicited exactly zero replies over 10 days, until I rang each of the people and said I needed an RSVP...

That seems to be the way of things in the PS - It's easier to shuffle someone sideways than it is to performance manage them so that's what happens.
Or - shuffle the person agitating for performance management - so it goes away... (I'm the stubborn prick who was prepared to go through the whole rigorous process to actually performance manage someone)

On the other hand - there are also instances where people get moved without the proper processes being followed - (leading to appeals - which involve three people reviewing the process behind the making of the decision - and when you have a reputation for being both fair and stubborn - you get nominated - Yay!)

My retirement is starting to seem further away instead of closer... ...
(I could retire today, but if I wait 18 months it's worth a lot more to me)

Local coal mine had it's next expansion stage denied. Instantly had people who supported it coming out of the woodwork saying how it will devastate the local community when the mine shuts down and how unfair it is.

What was going to happen in 10 years time when that (final) stage ran out and they had to shut down anyway? The same thing except more extreme because it would have been a much bigger operation.

I don't know. It did actually have good and bad points, just seems very short sighted to say the very best thing would have been to keep it going and set things up for a bigger fall. People are only thinking about themselves and what they would have gotten out of it.

^^ I know the exact feeling, we've got the Alcoa plant here which really is at end of life but people bitch and moan about how if it shuts down the whole area will suffer.

It probably will, however they need to plan for this shit. The contract got extended by 4 years so that's a huge buffer to sort shit out.

Happened here, our gold mine was doing a huge expansion and when they completed the construction a huge workforce left to go wherever else it is they're doing mining stuff, the sky was falling, rentals opened up everywhere, housing prices dropped, but life goes on

Family have all gone to Darwin for the long weekend and left me behind, I'm going to enjoy a lonely weekend but also miss them terribly.

All I have left to do is buy some food to last me the weekend and beer and do my washing, did all my other chores the last couple of nights

Moving in 2 weeks, so I really need to get a lot of packing done this weekend. We only have a 1br place, Ands we don't have a lot of stuff, but even restrained consumerism results in a lot of stuff.

I'm chilling for the night. Finished work at 6pm and had a 29min wait for the train.

It'll be chores for me too this weekend with some HOTS stimpack milking along the way.

I hate moving. Probably why I seem to live at a place for over 5yrs if I can help it.

We've been in our current place for nearly 7 years. Could easily stay longer if it wasn't time to do that whole 'responsible adult' shtick and get a place of our own.

Spending a breezy 32.5 hours straight at work, after my overnight supervisor called in sick at the last minute and I couldn't get anyone to replace them. Thank god there's a long weekend approaching!

I got 3 days straight of going to work and then taking mum to the hospital afterwards. Will also be missing out on pilates this week as a consequence. Hope my back holds up this week.

Got 17 days to go on my job. The anxiety over the impending unemployment is setting in, but the inevitable ambivalence about the current workplace has not. Had a good reminder today of why I feel the need to leave in the first place.

Just realised I'm almost 3 years in with the desk chair I spent far too much on (Steelcase Leap) and it's still in near new condition. Feels good to have the research I put into it beforehand pay off - I'm off the crappy office chair carousel!

Damn thats a long day.

My long weekend was the best, family headed off for Darwin at 11am on Friday, so in my lunch break I did my food shopping for the weekend, finished my work off, smashing some after work beers with the boys, went home, put the cricket on, cooked dinner, continued smashing beers, swapped between the cricket and the footy, moved onto scotch, played some Squad, PUBG and Overwatch with some mates, went to bed at like 1am, woke up at 6 put a brisket in the slow cooker which lasted me all weekend and I just repeated my Friday night for Saturday and Sunday with like 14 hours of Pro Wrestling and all the shows my missus doesn't watch thrown in.

I did miss my family greatly but I also enjoyed 3 day of Doug time.

Heya chaps, quick question, I'm currently with Belong for my FTTN NBN. Their service has been garbage of late. (Based in Tassie) Anyone know of/ could recommend a good alternative? Really not liking the current ISP.
