Game of Thrones (Season 8) - SPOILERS
Re: Game of Thrones (Season 8)
Weekly unfortunately... and on a Monday here in Oz... I wish it was all at once.
Foxtel have a stranglehold on the initial airing of GoT in Australia. The cheapest way is to use a Foxtel Now trial for 2 weeks and then pay $25 for 1 month after that and then cancel:
https://www.whistleout.com.au/PayTV/Gui ... ason-eight
However, it should be noted that Foxtel Now have had issues meeting user demand when a new episode airs in the past and the experience is nothing short of shit from what I've read.
Once the entire season finishes airing, it'll be on Google Play which, from past seasons, you'll be able to buy in complete form to binge but spoilers will have permeated through the entire interwebs and workplaces by then.
So far I've stuck with the OzzyMan approach in order to watch before spoilers run amok with the plan to buy the complete 8 season boxset as soon as it's available to make up for my sins.

Re: Game of Thrones (Season 8)
So in effect the length of the season will be pretty much the same as season 7

Re: Game of Thrones (Season 8)
About half an hour shorter than season 7 actually.
Season 7 was 442min total whilst season 8 is 410min. Incidentally, season 6 was 445min so, assuming Season 1-5 were comparable to season 6, we're indeed getting less total viewing time this season.
TBH, I don't care if it's damn good television.
EDIT: Oops, season 6 was longer... the list I was looking at didn't have episodes 1 and 10 in them. The analyst in me thought there was something strange. So yeah, we got less total viewing time in S7 compared to previous seasons whilst S8 will be 32 min less again.

Re: Game of Thrones (Season 8)
Interesting, were there some longer episodes at the end of season 7? I watched it again recently but didn't notice if there was.

I have to say, I really dig this new poster.
Avoiding the reddit thread on the theories behind this one like the plague.

Never thought I'd be posting a 60 Minutes video in a Game of Thrones thread but here we are...

Wasn't Sam's original path to the wall being told that he'd be hunted down by his father (or words to that effect?) if he didn't take the black? If I were him, I'd be relieved.

Re: Game of Thrones (Season 8)
Yeah I think it was when he found out about his brother than got to him more. Being that he is a man of the black, his new queen killed his bloodline and told him so to his face.
btw I've marked this thread as SPOILERS so we don't have to tag every new post

Re: Game of Thrones (Season 8) - SPOILERS
Yeah it was his brother's death that hit him more.
Also I'm intrigued to see what Bronn will do.

Just finished Episode 2 - it hit right in the feels a few times. I thought it was much better than Episode 1.

Re: Game of Thrones (Season 8) - SPOILERS
All through the episode, I kept thinking back to the folklore of the books. When this is over, I think I'll go back and re-read them. Or at least Fire and Blood.
It's great that the show takes the effort to try to contextualize what's at stake for the characters. Those moments are what makes the battles and dragons worth it. The moment where the Kingslayer knighted Brienne the Beautiful was very moving. And I laughed pretty hard when the three-eyed Raven interjected with "The things were do for love".
Next week is going to be awesome!
